Well
not all of us are born geniuses, but what prevents us from
adopting the strategy of the genius? Aristotle and Einstein
harnessed the power of their creative mind to manage their
thinking process. Why can't we? Here are some strategies that
you can adopt to stimulate your creative mind and ace your
exams.
Multi dimensional viewing of problems
Study a topic from different perspectives. Restructure
the problem in many different ways and appreciate each perspective.
Each perspective may reveal a new bias and help you understand
the nuances of the subject. No exam question can then flummox
you by its complexity.
Visualize
Take a pen and paper and define the topic diagrammatically.
The numbers and shapes will lend visual focus and order to
your grasp of the subject.
Be Productive.
Give yourself idea quotas like Thomas Alva Edison. Think
up a new topic for study everyday and work on it relentlessly
till you master it.
Make Novel Combinations:
Combine, recombine and reorder your ideas and concepts
in unusual ways to aid your understanding of the subject and
brainstorm on it. Like Leonardo da Vinci you could relate
the sound of a bell with a stone hitting water to remind him
that sound travels in waves.
Suspend logic to allow your mind create new forms of understanding.
Niels Bohr advocated that the mind can be suspended and moved
into another level by thinking in opposites. He discovered
that light was both wave and a particle by holding on to the
opposing idea. This led to an understanding of the 'principle
of complementarity'.
Think in metaphors
Metaphorical thinking is defined by Aristotle as a sign
of genius. A person who has the capacity to see similarities
in diverse fields of existence is held to be a person with
a creative mind.
Always be ready to be visited by Failure
Chance has a big role to play in our lives. It is the
fundamental impetus of creative accident. Focus on the productive
aspects of failure. Analyze its process, components and examine
how it can be changed to yield positive results.
